The Approach of Paying it Forward

The modern world need not know the pain, sorrow, and destruction it currently endures. There is adequate food for everyone, shelter for all, and in contrast to common belief, there may be plenty of space. Individuals of the globe did not inherit an impossible situation doomed to fail, rather the wrongdoings of humanity are what debilitates society. A lack of determination and desire to aid one’s neighbor has allowed widespread wickedness, hunger, and violence to escalate and overwhelm every corner of the earth. This isn't the determined fate, as basic dedication to goodwill and a spirit of service has the ability to truly improve the world. "Paying it forward" can powerfully impact and positively revolutionize the globe, as instead of simply doing good to those who have done so unto you, one is encouraged to take their blessing and go "forward", aiding or assisting another. By doing this joy and love is spread far and wide as opposed to remaining stagnant amongst a particular community.



The world is in urgent need. Millions of children go hungry every day, villagers are slaughtered by the hundreds, and the overall standard of living for many is completely plummeting. It is not a complicated matter; it merely boils down to selfishness, pride, and an apathetic attitude for the profound suffering. This need to be abolished, as the lives of countless hang in the balance. The joy and wellbeing of others does not solely affect the individual, as a spirit of gladness and generosity is contagious, brightening and bettering all those around. How is this present world to come up out of the darkness? By lending a hand to a stranger, arbitrarily acting kind, and simply carrying oneself with love and care for all, the known world will cease to exist, transformed by these basic, fundamental principles.



Of course repaying a kind deed to the courteous individual is good, however to pay it forward substantially increases the society’s benefit from such an action. This means being gracious and thankful for the imparted blessing, then immediately striving to aid, assist, or simply love another in response to how one showed love unto you. It has the power to spread like wildfire, as former strangers become friends, forgiveness is shown, and lives renewed. This is no drudgery, as one finds the joy that comes from serving another, for it is truly greater to give than to receive.



While the world continues to blame its shortcomings and failures on numerous vague, complicated scapegoats or a predetermined factors, in reality the matter is much more simple. What mankind needs is action upon the most fundamental of ideals: kindness and generosity. "Paying it forward" to one’s neighbor, acquaintance, or complete stranger can open the floodgates to the goodness of the human heart. There no need for hunger to destroy the lives of millions, nor for violence and rage to consume the souls of the masses. By distributing joy and serving others, the everyday person can begin to alter the world around, one smile and deed at a time.
